Biography

Merve Tahiroglu is the Turkey Program Coordinator at Project on Middle East Democracy (POMED), a Washington-based research and advocacy NGO dedicated to democracy and human rights in the Middle East. Previously, Merve was a research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, where she focused on Turkish foreign policy and U.S.-Turkish relations. Merve has authored several monographs on Turkey and published articles in various outlets such as Foreign Affairs, the Washington Post, the Wall Street JournalForeign Policy, and Politico. Born and raised in Istanbul, Merve earned her MA in History from Georgetown University and her BA in Political Science from Duke University.
